Vincent Van Gogh painted sunflowers over and over again. Some say it’s because in his time sunflowers were popular decorative theme in art. Paintings with sunflowers were easier to sell. That might be true but for sure not the only reason to Van Gogh’s endless desire to convey the beauty of that golden flower. There is soul in a flower that’s been given a name of the sun. And even when the flower is in the end of his lifespan it still shines like a beautiful memory.
This week’s video is a new episode of What To Draw and – as you might have guessed – the theme was drawing flowers. Enjoy.
My 3-year-old godson Viljo had a request for my art channel. He wanted to see “fierce angry Trannosaurus Tietta” so this week I drew my very first dinosaurus. I used an old board – which I’ve used as a colour palette before – as the canvas and worked with oil pastels and acrylic paints. It was fun. If YOU have ideas or requests please send me a comment. Sunny weekend to all!
Do you sometimes feel like drawing but don’t really know what to draw? I thought I’d make a series from that topic to my YouTube channel Elli Maanpää Art. This weeks video is the Part 1 on What To Draw. In this video I share one of the coolest websites: line-of-action.com where you can take online drawing classes. I’m especially addicted to the figure drawing classes since it’s such an essential craft for an artist. I hope you enjoy my speed drawing female figures -video.
We are approaching the end of the first third of 2017 and it means that Seasons are about to change. It’s hard to talk about proper Spring when there is still snow in the ground here in Turku but as an optimist I’m already all about the Spring. This weeks video is first of it’s kind of the Story Time Art videos where there is a “plot line” hidden in the image I speed paint. I already did these back in the Dood Elli Doo videos but this is the first one in English. How do you like it? I also finally purchased some gouache paints and I loved painting with them.
Who watched the Oscars last night? Pretty dramatic, huh!? As I already mentioned in last post I saw the movie La La Land last week and I loved it. I made a spontaneous movie themed speed drawing video with Aqua Markers on Sunday to celebrate the magical musical and the Oscars. Don’t you just love Emma Stone (and Ryan Gosling for that matter). Congratulations to her winning the best leading lady. And Congratulations to all winners and runner-ups of the night!
My this week`s speed drawing Youtube video is done with Winsor & Newton brush markers. I saw this view in Argentina Bariloche back in the 2006 when I was backpacking there. It’s hard to imagine that this dreamy place actually exist but it does.
As you can see in the video my cyan blue marker is pretty much dried out. I said this out loud last week and my boyfriend got me new blue markers for Valentine Day surprise. That was the best gift I could have ever had. Thanks to him there is more brush marker landscapes to come. Hope you enjoy my video.
Meet me with my many faces. This weeks speed drawing is done with markers on a softer paper. I hope you watch it with the audio on. Have an awesome weekend!
