Sometimes it’s time for a change and this week was one of them. I chose to redo my profile picture. I used the old photograph loosely as a reference but I added some important extra parts like my cat Cocco the Coconut Boy. Nowadays he does everything with me so he deserves some profile picture coverage. I painted the illustration with gouache, continued with coloured pencils and did some colour adjustments on photoshop. I love how it turned out. How about you?
I did today my 2nd live video on Youtube. It was about answering some questions about me, my career and art in general. Also my cat Cocco keeps stealing the show. If you’re interested seeing a more raw video of me talking to a camera about things that matter to me please see the video below. Thank you and have a lovely evening.
Greetings from TUROK Cat Exhibition in Turku Messukeskus. I’m here today until 4pm selling Cat Art and Christmas Cards so come to say hello if you’re in the area. If today’s not possible for you come tomorrow instead to Turku VPK Christmas Sale from 11am to 4pm. I’ll be there with my goodies.
P.S. Thanks to my beloved Herra Kuula for taking these photographs and helping me with everything.
My art vlogging career started today. The idea of Dood Elli Doo has been spinning around my head quite a while now but this week I got it done: speed drawing meets vlogging my way. I chose to keep the spoken language in Finnish which is my mother tongue but there is subtitles in English. If you’d like to see more videos like this please subscribe to my channel and also feel free to like/follow Dood Elli Doo in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Woop. Thank you! Now I’m off to a mini vacation in Stockholm. Fun times.
2/3 How about school. (1st post here)
One of the most demanding (and awarding) courses from last Autumn – Turku University of Applied Sciences / Film and animation – was taught by creative maniac called Chrzu Lindström. For his class I created over 30 drawings and wrote about 20 scripts for 3-min-long animations in less than a month (as did all my animation classmates). At times I bite my teeth to be able to create the amount of ideas Chrzu demanded. But in the end it paid the prize by getting a better nose on what works storywise. Chrzu gives harsh critique but he gives it with a heart. He’s so passionated about film making that the energetic enthusiasm grips you too.
About my drawings. I tried out a bunch of different styles as you can see. Can you spot the themes: symmetry, me and my shadow, deserted island, curtains and burden? P.S. I think I’ll do something with the vampire idea: animation maybe or at least a tee print?
I must admit. This Monday today I totally forgot it’s Monday. I’m on a holiday. Well. Kind of. I’m far away in a fabulous rent cottage by the lake, where there is sauna, fireplace, BIG kitchen and great company. But I do also have my laptop with me because I’m working full steam with this year’s Christmas Card Illustration -project. You will hear and see more about the cards quite soon. Probably in one week. And I looooove Christmas. I could draw christmas cards all year.
