Sunflower Fields Forever

Vincent Van Gogh painted sunflowers over and over again. Some say it’s because in his time sunflowers were popular decorative theme in art. Paintings with sunflowers were easier to sell. That might be true but for sure not the only reason to Van Gogh’s endless desire to convey the beauty of that golden flower. There is soul in a flower that’s been given a name of the sun. And even when the flower is in the end of his lifespan it still shines like a beautiful memory.

This week’s video is a new episode of What To Draw and – as you might have guessed – the theme was drawing flowers. Enjoy.

Inspired By Own Photographs

These days we always have a good camera with us where ever we go. The cellphones take remarkably good photographs. So use it for your advantage and always collect inspiration photographs from everything that draws your attention. This way you don’t need to rely on finding a perfect reference from the internet because you have it already on your own. Sometimes it can just be an shape or a colour scheme you like. Or you can do a hardcore realistic art work from it. In my case I used the references very loosely and created this Flower Delivery kid lit art with gouache paints and markers. Enjoy the What to Draw – Part 6.

P.S. I just got today wonderful news: that I’m going to move to Toronto for next Fall to do exchange studies in 3D animation in Centennial College. How awesome is that. If you have some tips where I should look for a housing and what else should I see or do in Toronto/Canada – let me know. Thank you 🙂
