#MerMay

The Little Mermaid was one of my favourite films as a child. We didn’t have the video at home so I went to my brother’s friend’s house to look at the film with his mom. So when I found out that May is the month of drawing mermaids I wanted to give it my own go. My first mermaid turned into a calm merman chilling with a giant fish in the bottom of the ocean. Proudly presenting to you this weeks Elli Maanpää Art – speed painting video: What to draw, Part 5. Be inspired by the challenges in social media. May is the MerMay.

P.S. If you’re wondering I’m trying to look like the kissing gourami in the thumbnail 😀

Also more traditional mermaid – she’s a redhead like Ariel – swam into my bullet journal page this week.

Goldfish Maiden

This painting Goldfish Maiden had many faces if you look at the making of -pictures below. It started as very fragile watercolor painting but then adding new layers of ink and gouache paint made much more rough and layered. I still like the result.
