PATTERN DESIGN FOR BIKINI COLLECTION
If you thought summer couldn't get any more stylish, think again. Each pattern design draws inspiration from a painting.
Welcome to the sunshine of this vibrant bikini collection, where art meets fashion in a celebration of summer vibes and feminine allure. This project, where my skills as a visual artist meet those of a designer, is just the beginning of what I hope to do more of in the future.
Each piece in this limited edition collection features surface and pattern designs illustrated by me. They draw inspiration from my figurative paintings adorned with vibrant scenes of sun-kissed ladies lounging in the sun.
Exemplifying my commitment to sustainability, these bikinis were crafted in small quantities from recycled polyester. The collection, born from the idea of translating the carefree spirit of my colorful paintings into wearable art, invites you to embody the same sense of relaxation and joy experienced by the characters in my artwork.
This surface design-inspired bikini collection was originally conceived as part of the Tyynelä Gallery's 'Kosketus' art exhibition. Blurring the lines between art and fashion, it offered an interactive experience for all. Alongside my 'Jump' painting and the 'Pulahdus' pattern inspired by it, I presented bikinis, towels, and flip flops adorned with my signature designs, allowing visitors to not only admire but also embody the summery mood of my artwork.
Participatory art at its most stylish, this collection invited the audience to take home more than just a piece of fabric – it invited you to dress up, to embrace the mood, and to create your own summertime story.
In this sphere, art is not just admired but lived.
My heartfelt thanks to my three wonderful summer muses, Terese Kühl (IG: teresekuhl), Linnea (IG: kujerruksia), and Anna-Emilia Mikkola (IG: neitimikkola), for testing and modeling the bikinis and capturing these stunning photographs of their summer moments. I also extend my gratitude to visual artist Timo Ahjotuli, who photographed Terese, whose photos I've now used across all my visual portfolios. Receiving full support from creative and amazing individuals makes it incredibly gratifying to see something you've only imagined come to life.
Although the bikini collection is no longer available for purchase, you can still bring my artistic vision into your life by licensing these patterns.
