Elli Maanpää: "Sinä päivänä kun aloitin tämän maalauksen, ajattelin maalaavani rakastavaiset Gustav Klimtin Suudelman tapaan. Olin yllättynyt kun syleilevän parin sijaan kankaalle ilmestyikin äiti ja tytär. Toisaalta en: Tämä on julkimaalattu kiitokseni kaikille ihanille äideille, joita ilman emme olisi edes olemassa."

Elli Maanpää: "The day I began this painting, I envisioned creating a scene reminiscent of Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss," with lovers in mind. To my surprise, though, what materialized on the canvas were not two embracing individuals but rather a mother and daughter. Yet, in another sense, it wasn't surprising at all. This artwork serves as my public expression of gratitude to all the wonderful mothers without whom our existence would not even be possible."
