It’s pretty overwhelming to comprehend that there is just a month left of my 2nd year of animation studies in Turku Arts Academy. Wow. At this point I feel like I’ve learn a lot and that I have so much more to learn. It was time to make my 1st animation showreel to list the animations I’ve worked on so far. My favourite animation programs at this point are TVPaint, AfterEffects and DragonFrame. I uploaded the showreel both to Youtube and Vimeo so go and take a look. All feedback is warmly welcomed. Thank you.
Happy Easter! I drew bunnies on this week ‘s video in Elli Maanpää Art. I used gouache, pencil, ink, brushmarkers and cotton swaps. Inspired by the season and free stock photographs. Have a good one.
Last week was spectacular. It was also so intense that after getting back home I’ve been down with a cold whole week. But nevertheless I’m so proud of the work we did last week in Lille in France. I’m excited that I’m able to share how the week went by in my workshop & travel vlog I uploaded to my Youtube channel Elli Maanpää Art.
During the 4-day workshop we created animation to project on the wall of the Opera de Lille. The showtime of the video mapping was last Friday at 9PM as a part of the Fête de l’anim. You can watch the whole video mapping on this video filmed by Daniel Derg – since I chose to show only our part in my vlog to keep it short and snappy.
There were 50 students and professionals from Europe and Asia taking part on the workshop. My group “The Roomies” – me (Turku Arts Academy), Thomas Van Fucht (Howest), Leonardo Altieri (CSC Turin) and Elena Sorrentino (CSC Turin) – turned the Opera De Lille into a Circus themed dollhouse.
I did three illustrations and animations: Cannon Lady, Clown and Lion. I worked with Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects. You can see my work here in these looping gif’s. I really loved working in this method. Which character you like the best?
As Viborg this week was one to remember. Thank you Euranim and Turku Arts Academy for making it happen!
Greetings from Lille France. I’m here for the Euranim Video Mapping workshop for the La Fête de l’anim’ animation festival. Today is the 5th day of the of the workshop and we are pretty much finalising the work at the moment. If you’re in the area be sure to come to check out the amazing video mapping spectacle tomorrow to the l’Opéra de Lille at 9pm. Here is a little sneak peek of the work by our group “The Roomies”: me, Leonardo Altieri, Elena Sorrentino and Thomas Van Fucht.
Has that happened to you that you’d like to draw something from your imagination but when you stare at that blank sheet of paper all the ideas you had just a moment ago, vanishes? It for sure has happened to me. When I’m ready to fall asleep or walking outside my mind is full of images. But when I’m facing a blank white paper my mind becomes as blank and I cannot think anything to draw. In this weeks video on the Elli Maanpää Art channel, I show a way to go around that. How to make the empty paper burst into endless drawing possibilities.
P.S. I’m leaving to another Euranim Video Mapping workshop – this time in Lille, France – on Sunday so I might not be posting much next week. But I’ll film a vlog from the travel so in a way I’m gonna take you with me. You just have to wait and see.
I mentioned this project briefly before but now it’s happening. Taitteessa is an short vlog style documentation of Media studies in Turku Arts Academy in Turku University of Applied Sciences. Us four students – Kia, Emilia, Venla and I – filmed our study life during January 2017. Emilia and Venla study Advertisement, Kia studies Journalism and I study Animation. The Taitteessa workgroup edited the material into four times four short episodes. Two first episodes from each of us have already come out. The next episode featuring me will come out on Wednesday on the Turun AMK:n Taideakatemia facebook page. And on Friday on the TurunAMK YouTube page. Below is the trailer. Episodes 1 and 2 you can find by clicking one or two. Enjoy also the selection of my crazy facial expressions in these video thumbnails.
Do you sometimes feel like drawing but don’t really know what to draw? I thought I’d make a series from that topic to my YouTube channel Elli Maanpää Art. This weeks video is the Part 1 on What To Draw. In this video I share one of the coolest websites: line-of-action.com where you can take online drawing classes. I’m especially addicted to the figure drawing classes since it’s such an essential craft for an artist. I hope you enjoy my speed drawing female figures -video.
