In the autumn of 2022, the Kulttuurikeskus Vanha Paukku in Lapua hosted a vibrant solo exhibition titled Värien Serendipiteetti | The Serendipity of Colors. Featured as a key part of the Lapua Art & Film Festival (LAFF 2022), this collection explored the intersection of deep artistic knowledge and the magic of the unexpected.
As defined by Wikipedia, serendipity is the "ability to make fortunate, unplanned discoveries," often within a field where the explorer already possesses extensive expertise. In this exhibition, Elli Maanpää leaned into this concept, allowing her seasoned love for color and form to collide with spontaneous, intuitive moments on the canvas. The result was a series of works that captured the joy of the creative process—where years of practice meet the thrill of a happy accident.
Adding a modern layer to the experience, the show featured Maanpää's Augmented Paintings that visitors could bring to life using a smartphone, blending traditional acrylic art with digital animation.
