Remember Joulukorttikauppa: my online Christmas Card Shop? Well it’s not Christmas right now – even though it snowed yesterday in Finland – but I decided to open a Spring edition of the shop. There I sell my non-Christmas postcards and art prints during May 2017.
From the selection you can find postcards for Finnish celebrations like high school graduation and confirmation party but also all kinds of postcards from my illustrations and paintings. I will post the orders on Saturdays. Check also Joulukorttikauppa’s facebook page.
Thank you for checking out my postcard shop. Have an awesome MayDay! Or as they say here in Finland: Hauskaa Vappua!
When one drawing isn’t enough. On this weeks Elli Maanpää Art -video I take you with me to our summer cottage in the Finnish countryside in Ähtäri. There I love to walk around in the forests. I was so inspired by the surroundings I did two illustrations: the first one I painted with gouache and the second one I did with Adobe Illustrator. I uploaded the later design also to my Redbubble store. Thank you for helping me choose the background colour for it in Twitter and Instagram. I appreciate the helping eye.

Last week in school we spent (well) with the teacher Leo Liesvirta in front of green screen and After Effects. I was in a group with Sade Lahti, Anton Lipasti, Ossi Haapanen and Ville Kankaanpää. We five created these opening titles for a imaginary TV show called the Supreme Individual. We did them in just four days without any previous experience in chroma key. So proud to present you the outcome. Enjoy!
Our digital photography course ended this week. Our last task was to create an advertisement/print for a subject of our choosing. Most of us film and animation students did a movie poster (obviously). I imagined a movie called Me emme ole täältä (Eng. We Are Not From Here). The text in the top “Koti on siellä missä
sydän toivoa on” means “Home is where the heart hope is”. It’s my subtle way to comment the whole refugee situation that’s going on in the whole Europe. The movie would be a drama about overcoming the foreignness and finding the similarities. The design and editing poster is done by me but the photographs are taken by my classmate Konsta Hormia. As I took the photos for his poster. The idea of the task was 1st Articulate your idea for the photographer. 2nd The photographer takes the photos. 3rd You edit the final piece. For my imaginary film crew I chose my talented friends for example Saban Ramadani, Mirja Oksanen, Tommi Mäki and Pinja Mustajoki plus one (the only) Finnish blockbuster film producer Markus Selin. So, would you want to see this movie? Should I start writing the script?
Today is the UHANALAISET -exhibition opening in Karhulinna in Korkeasaari Zoo at 4pm-6pm. See you there maybe! 🙂
