HELENE20
Art exhibition in Kulttuurihalli, Helsinki, Finland
15.–25.9.2020
HELENE20 was a collaborative art project launched in 2020 by Helsinki Hospital and Villa Gyllenberg. The initiative supported six young artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was selected to create a new work inspired by Helene Schjerfbeck’s 1945 Self-portrait, Light and Shadow. My resulting painting - portrait of Schjerfbeck painted on an upcycled mirror - explored themes of resilience and presence. The project concluded with an exhibition and a charity auction at Hagelstam & Co to benefit the Cancer Foundation Finland.
