KOSKETUS
Art Exhibition in Tyynelä Gallery, Koisjärvi, Finland
22.9.-24.9.2023
The 'KOSKETUS' Art Exhibition at Tyynelä Gallery in Lohja, Finland, offered a space where visitors could immerse themselves in a realm where art transcended boundaries within a 109-year-old log house. Curated by Terese Kühl, the exhibition featured visual artists Viivi Kiiskinen, Elli Maanpää, Mammu Rauhala, and Sini Villi.
At the exhibit, attendees were invited to engage with interactive installations, sculptures, and augmented reality paintings, encouraging them to let art touch their senses. Augmented reality paintings magically came to life on their phone screens.
Visitors had the opportunity to interact with the artworks in various ways—by touching them or allowing themselves to be touched by the art.
Site-specific art installations, created in dialogue with the visual artists, allowed visitors to enter and explore. As an example, I, Elli Maanpää, collaborated with Mammu Rauhala on a joint art installation. Additionally, some artworks were available for purchase from the gift shop, inviting the audience to take a piece of the exhibition home with them.
Sini Villi and Viivi Kiiskinen adorned the gallery with their unique textile sculptures. In Kiiskinen’s 'Shelter' work, participants could contribute to its creation, enhancing the collaborative aspect of the exhibition.
'Kosketus' was an immersive art experience that fostered genuine dialogue between viewers and art, bridging the gap between creators and audience members.
