Animated Dreams in Tallinn

Greetings from Tallinn. I’m at the moment travelling back home from animation festival Animated Dreams held in the beautiful city Tallinn in Estonia. I was there for 4-days with my schoolmates and it was a blast. We ate well, enjoyed the historic scenery and shopped cheap art supplies.

But I must admit I was little disappointed by the dark tone of most of the festival short films: they were often violent and rough. Nevertheless I managed to see few shorts that I was inspired by. Those were G-Aaah by Elizabeth Hobbs, Parade by Digna van der Put and You Are Not The Strongest by Emilio Yerba. These three were delightful, witty and pleasant to look at. I also saw the most enjoyable French feature animation film called Louise By The Shore by Jean-François Laguionie about an old lady and a dog in a seaside town. As my friend said it, it felt like a warm hug after all the war themed shorts.

Now heading back home and school to finish my own very first drawn animation short. Here are some snaps from the trip. Enjoy!
