How Did The Opening Go?

So how did the Grumpy Cat With Friends exhibition opening go last Friday? It went super well. Friends and family came to visit the exhibition during their lunch break or day off. They gave me flowers, compliments and even bought some of the paintings. Also library visitors enjoyed the cat-art in the hallway gallery and ate couple of marshmallows on their way. I’m grateful of all the help and support I got to make this exhibition happen. Even if my muse is grumpy I am one happy artist.

P.S. If you didn’t made it on Friday you still have time to visit the exhibition in Rikhardinkatu Library (Rikhardinkatu 3) in Helsinki Finlanf since it’s on until the 31st of May. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAgrumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_8. grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_5 grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_9 grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_3 grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_4 grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_7 grumpycat_exhibition_ellimaanpaa_2014_6

  2. Moi! Such a cute art!!
Sorry to ask you suddenly. I’ve been thinking to do art show in Rikhardinkatu Library but I have no idea what having art show there is like (especially I’m a Japanese girl who doesn’t speak Finnish). Did you like it there? And if you want to sell your art there, how will that work? Kiitos and thank you so much for your kindness in advance!!

    • Hi Lenna. Thank you for your comment.

My art show was in the Käytävägalleria (Eng. Hallway Gallery) in the 4th floor of the Rikhardinkatu Library. That was curated by Jyri-Petteri Volkoff and you can contact him by email The gallery space in the 1st floor is not curated by the library but by other art gallery institution so I don’t know how to get works there.

I did like having the exhibition in the Rikhardinkatu library. Overall it went very well. It was very self-reliant exhibition. I was given a day to put up the work and day to take them out but other that I wasn’t given any specific instructions and no-one supervised the exhibition. There is small table in the corner of the Käytävägalleria where I left my painting catalogue with prices and guestbook. I sold about five of my paintings. The library did not take any commission. All my art buyers were my friends so it was easy to agree with them the delivery and payment methods after the show.

Hope this helps. If you have more to ask send me an email to elli(at)
      Good luck!

Thanks for reading! So what say you?
